In the latest episode of the Blue Planet podcast, former President János Áder was joined by our colleague György Taxner, Deputy CEO of UTB Envirotec. The conversation focused on CYCLE, among other things.
In the broadcast, we were able to demonstrate the unique and efficient way our company processes wastewater. Previously, the team mainly extracted biogas from wastewater, which was utilized as an energy source. However , during a revolutionary discovery, they realized that acetic acid can also be extracted from wastewater, which is the raw material for household cleaning products! As a result, CYCLE was born, which has been available in our webshop since 2019 and is now in more and more stores.
Own wastewater laboratory in the spirit of sustainability
The conversation also reveals, among other things, that we have established our own wastewater laboratory, in which we apply and further develop all the world's wastewater treatment technologies. The lab's goal is to return purified water to the environment, thus reducing the negative impact on nature. In the broadcast, György Taxner also emphasized that the work done in the laboratory is essential for sustainability, especially in developing countries, where 90% of wastewater is still returned to natural waters untreated.
However, the sludge produced during biological wastewater treatment contains many recyclable materials. According to György Taxner, acetic acid is one of the most valuable of these, but other useful materials have also been found in sewage sludge, such as materials that can be used as soil improvers, which help farmers in small gardens.
Back to natural materials
János Áder noted that even our grandmothers cleaned with vinegar, which we also confirm. However, over the years, unfortunately, petrochemical products have become dominant, which in most cases are unhealthy not only for the planet, but also for people. CYCLE aims to help its customers return to the use of natural materials, thereby protecting the environment and their health.
