CYCLE joined the climate conference organized by UNICEF Hungary for the second time . The event took place on April 23rd in Budapest, during the Sustainability Week, at Eötvös10 . Our small team considered it important to participate in the event from the very first moment.
We were already present at the UNICEF climate conference last year, where we participated in an exciting panel discussion. You can read more about this discussion in this article . Building on last year’s experience and taking into account the valuable feedback, we were there again this year, ready to give a new impetus to our sustainability efforts.
The CYCLE team at the UNICEF Climate Conference
Building on the experiences of previous years , this year's conference was implemented as a solution-focused, interactive program. The goal was for young people to understand the effects of the environmental crisis and gain personal experiences and insights into what tangible, environmentally friendly solutions and action options exist , which they can integrate into their everyday lives the very next day.
Focus on home and our environment
The organizers “decorated” an apartment on site , and connected the individual spaces with several sustainability-related topics. This way, the participants could feel at home while gaining personal experiences and knowledge about climate protection. For example, in the kitchen, the participants were told about the possibilities of reducing food waste and about environmentally conscious eating. In the bathroom, the participants were informed about why tap water is one of our greatest treasures and how they can consciously use less water. In the living room , the participants were told about environmentally conscious lifestyles and small steps that anyone can take to become a Climate Hero. In the bedroom, the children could receive important information about how to have good air in the room. In the garden, the young people could learn about composting and gardening.
The climate conference was possible with the participation of numerous companies
In addition to CYCLE, the event was attended by organizations such as the Hungarian Food Bank Association , the Energiaklub , Beeco , the Hungarian Water and Wastewater Technology Association , the Association of Environmental Service Providers and Manufacturers , the Green Hands Association , the Hungarian Environmental Education Association, the Ecopsychology Association , and Andi Tóth and Barnabás Kovács. All of these companies and organizations worked together to make the event truly interactive and inspiring for all children.
CYCLE showed itself in the bathroom category
We shared essential information for an environmentally friendly everyday life with the young people about the importance of water and environmentally conscious cleaning . The children completed an exciting quiz to test their knowledge, and also participated in a drawing competition with their awesome creations . You can find more information about the latter here .

The children's enthusiasm confirmed to us that young people are open to sustainability and are happy to participate in such initiatives.
We believe this event is a great example of how to engage young people in sustainability initiatives and how the joint efforts of companies and NGOs can help achieve a greener and more sustainable future.
