Keeping our homes clean has never seemed more important than it is now. Hygiene is especially important these days: everyone has finally learned how to properly wash their hands in 20 seconds, and we are also paying more attention to not touching our faces, mouths, and eyes as often (if possible, not at all).
But what about our homes? CYCLE offers some tips on how to protect our families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Perfect cleanliness in 2 steps
To ensure that our home is completely virus and bacteria free, we need to consider two important aspects:
Don't give germs room to settle.
Let's destroy the pathogens.
Step one: remove dust, limescale and deposits
Various contaminants are excellent breeding grounds and hiding places for pathogens, not to mention the fact that they can be easily transported over long distances by dust. So, the first step in cleaning is to get rid of all dust, dirt, deposits, and limescale. This reduces the chance that various pathogens can settle on these surfaces. In this step, we do not destroy all viruses and bacteria, but we reduce their number.
- Use disposable paper towels to remove dirt. When cleaning, efficiency is paramount, but also make sure to use environmentally friendly cleaning products from sustainable sources , such as CYCLE - this way we put less strain on the planet and also pay attention to the health of the family!
Step two: disinfect surfaces
Disinfectants are most effective on surfaces that are already clean, so we first used a cleaner that removes dirt that can harbor bacteria and viruses. Disinfectants, on the other hand, kill all harmful organisms—even non-harmful ones—so be careful with them! It’s very important to never mix different cleaners and disinfectants!
Wait a little while between cleaning and disinfecting to allow the cleaning agent to dry completely, to prevent different chemicals from mixing.
According to official recommendations, it is worth disinfecting our homes with the following materials:
- Home disinfectant available at most stores
- Aqueous solution of plain hypo (sodium hypochlorite), in a dilution depending on the strength of the hypo
- At least 70% alcohol solution
More tips
- Clean and disinfect surfaces that we use more frequently: doorknobs, keyboards, mice, faucets, light switches, and it's even worth disinfecting our cell phones and even our wallets from time to time.
- Use rubber gloves for cleaning – to avoid polluting the environment, use long-lasting rubber gloves instead of disposable ones, which can also be disinfected after use. After removing the rubber gloves, wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds!
