It is estimated that around 115 million mice, rats, guinea pigs, birds, fish, rabbits, pigs, cows, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, monkeys and other animals are used in laboratory experiments worldwide every year. This is a staggering number and completely unacceptable animal cruelty. CYCLE opposes all forms of violence and cruelty to animals.
CYCLE is now officially non-violent
CYCLE was the first company in Hungary to receive the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny trademark in the cleaning product category. The Leaping Bunny program guarantees that the brand has not conducted animal testing at any stage of product production. Thus, as of September 24, 2020, CYCLE, the world's first recycled cleaning product manufacturer, has become the legitimate user of the internationally recognized Leaping Bunny trademark.
The global program requires cruelty-free products, which go beyond the basic legal requirements. All of our cleaning products under the brand have achieved the gold level of the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny. As always, it is of utmost importance to us to work with our suppliers to meet the Leaping Bunny requirements.
If not on animals, then how should we test?
According to the description on the Cruelty Free International website, there are many alternatives to avoiding animal testing. These include cell culture, the use of human tissue, computer modeling, and studies conducted on volunteers.
Animal testing has long been known to produce results that are often not transferable to humans. For example, when testing skin allergies, experiments conducted on guinea pigs only predict human allergic reactions with a 72 percent success rate. In contrast, a combination of chemical and cell-based alternative methods has been shown to be 90 percent accurate. The infamous Draize irritation test (which has been performed on rabbit eyes and skin for decades) has also been shown to be only 60 percent accurate in humans, while when performed on reconstructed human skin, an accuracy of 86 percent can be achieved.
Let's protect the values of nature together!
“We are very proud to be the first in Hungary to receive the Leaping Bunny trademark in the household products category. The internationally recognized standard jumping bunny logo will be displayed prominently on all our products. This way, customers can be sure that they are not only using a fully circular product that is free of toxins , natural and recycled, but also violence-free. This trademark is perfectly in line with CYCLE’s philosophy that we must protect the values of nature,” added Sunny Bhasin, owner of CYCLE.
